WHY ADD A FILTER?
A study by the Technical University of Darmstadt shows that the climbing has a high concentration of PM 10 due to chalk in the air.
In parallel, we've noticed that chalk bags can be accidentally knocked over on the floor, at the base of boulders/climbing routes.
When this happens, climbers are wasting their chalk and adding to the concentration of PM 10 in the air.
This is why, to reduce this chalk loss, our engineers have designed a textile filter, built into the chalk bag.
DOESN'T THE FILTER MAKE IT HARDER TO GET YOUR HAND IN TO CHALK UP?
That was the challenge we faced!
After numerous prototypes and tests, here is the winning formula:
➡highly elasticated and smooth fabric so as not to snag the hand as it enters the bag;
➡a slit across the middle to let the hand in easily;
Of course, it will always be slightly easier to get your hand into a chalk bag without a filter, but after several field tests with climbers, the problem has been solved!
HOW WAS THIS 55% DIFFERENCE MEASURED?
Here's the test that was done to prove the effectiveness of the "Chalk barrier" textile filter
1-We put the same amount of chalk into a Vertika Chalk-Barrier chalk bag and a Vertika chalk bag;
2-We dropped the chalk bags 10 times from a height of 1.4 metres;
3-We measured the amount of chalk left in each of the two chalk bags.
The difference in the amount of chalk was 55%
DIMENSION
Opening: 11 cm x 9.5 cm
The shape of the opening is slightly oval to fit the hand in better.
Depth: 17 cm
These dimensions are for information only. They may vary slightly since the materials are made of textile.
LITTLE EXTRAS FOR CLIMBERS
In addition to the advantages given above, we have added a webbing loop on the side that can be used to easily attach a climbing brush.
The elasticated waist belt provides freedom of movement and breathability. This is a real bonus in terms of comfort.
