Standards:
VG1 01.040.2014 certified in accordance with 89/686/EEC Directive
Harmonised EN1384 European standard: 2012 withdrawn in October 2014. Until a new version is issued, in order for them to be sold in Europe, all helmets produced after 4 November 2014 must undergo testing and be CE marked. This marking must be followed either by Directive 89/686/EEC; either by document VG1 01.040 2014-12; either by standard prEN1384:2016; either by EN1384:2017.
Information on standards:
EN 1384 certified helmets can still be worn in training and competitions. However, some organizations may require other standards for their competitions. When in doubt, please consult the event organisers.
Sizes:
S (51-54 cm), M (55-58 cm).
Protection and shock absorption:
The main job of a riding helmet is to protect the rider's head. The 500 model, which has been put through the ringer in our workshops, features a shell designed to absorb some of the energy on impact through partial deformation of the shell and/or the protective material. In the event of a fall, replace your helmet: damage is not always visible and is often found inside the product.
Comfort:
Because you (quite) often go to the stables and ride frequently, your protective gear needs to be truly comfortable. The 500 helmet weighs just 508 g and has a liner hat with foam to reduce pressure points on your head. It also features an under-chin strap with foam padding. This comfortable helmet will be part of your daily riding routine!
Anatomic design:
Thanks to the dial, the 500 helmet can be adjusted for a perfect fit around your head. The helmet also has a lining hat in mesh and foam that can be removed and washed. A rip-tab system holds it in place while the foam helps give you a snug yet comfortable fit without pressure points on your head. These features give you a custom fit to be perfectly at ease!
Ventilation:
It can sometimes get warm in the saddle, and anyone who ever said that horse riding is not a sport has never done it! To keep you cool, the 500 helmet has a ventilation system of holes and channels to let air enter from the front and heat be evacuated at the back. Say goodbye to wet hair at the end of your training, competition or ride.
Fit:
A riding helmet that offers good protection is one that fits well and stays in place. For the 500 riding helmet, Fouganza's engineers created a four-point attachment system: the harness, with two side attachments for balance and excellent support. If the riding helmet is well adjusted to your head, you can move while it stays perfectly in place.
Choosing your helmet:
The 500 riding helmet is adjustable and available in several sizes: S and M, from 52 to 59. For stores with a broad offer, your size may not be in stock. Don't forget that you can also order on our website! To choose your riding helmet, measure your head circumference, try the helmet on and turn the dial to feel the right support: your helmet should not move when you move your head. Effective protection is protection that fits properly!
Easy care:
To look after your helmet, clean the outside with a cloth.
We strongly (or completely) recommend against using solvents or other aggressive products as they could affect the helmet's properties and cause it to deteriorate. The removable inner hat is machine washable at 30°C.
For storage and transport, a small fabric bag will protect it from dirt, scratches and light.
Use instructions:
We know that you are itching to try your helmet, but for safety reasons please read the instructions before use.
This helmet is for horse riding only and should not be used for motor sports, snow sports or air sports. Unfortunately, if you decide to take up bobsleigh, Formula 1 or hang gliding, this helmet will not meet your needs. We recommend opting for more suitable protection.
Lifespan:
Like your 500 riding helmet? Unfortunately, you won't be able to keep it forever. You should always replace it after any fall. While it may look just fine, some interior damage cannot be seen. And even if you're lucky enough to never fall off your horse, you should replace your riding helmet every five years.
Flexible brim:
The flexible brim of our 500 riding helmet is compliant with the requirements of European standards.
